Trinity Irish Dance Company
February 29, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 9:30 pm
$35Chicago’s own Trinity Irish Dance Company (TIDC) is bringing its unique form of progressive Irish dance to Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre. Called “impossibly complex” by The New York Times and “sophisticated and commanding” by the Los Angeles Times, this company of elite performing artists from across North America presents both classic and groundbreaking world premiere works.
Founded in 1990, TIDC is a contemporary, Irish-American performing arts company that offers something profound: through a unique blend of uncompromising power and grace, TIDC sends a clear message of female empowerment, consistently presenting males and females on equal footing.
TIDC’s world premieres will include Listen by Limerick-based Colin Dunne, a leading figure in the step dance genre that has made the cross-over into contemporary movement; Home, choreographed by Emmy-award winning Howard and Hoy; and American Traffic, by NYC-based tap dancer and MacArthur “Genius Grant” recipient Michelle Dorrance in conjunction with tap dancer and choreographer Melinda Sullivan; as well as the Chicago and Philadelphia premieres of Goddess by New York-based Irish-American Contemporary choreographer, Seán Curran.
