The H Foundation will host their 18th Annual Goombay Bash to find a cure for cancer on Saturday, July 28 from 5PM to midnight at the Aon Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier. The event has become known for its not-so-mild mannered approach to cancer philanthropy, where guests don flip-flops, board shorts and Hawaiian shirts while taking pictures with celebrity guests. This year’s celebrity emcee is comedian and Chicago radio personality Pete McMurray and this year’s celebrity guest with be former Blackhawks star Jeremy Roenick, read more about these special guests here.
By the numbers The H Foundation has directly raised over $8M in the last 18 years funding grants for basic science research at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. That work has in-turn earned over $50M in additional funding from private, state and federal government. Treatments created from work initially and exclusively funded by The H Foundation are now ready for trial.
Tickets for Goombay Barsh are on sale now online at http://www.goombaybash.com/($150) per person general admission, ($250) VIP, ($2500) for a VIP table of ten, and ($1500) for a table of ten. THE H FOUNDATION
Committed to Finding a Cure for Cancer
The H Foundation was created, as all great ideas are, over a cocktail called the Goombay Smash. It started out as a few friends with entrepreneurial spirits that decided they could make a difference in the fight against cancer. So, every summer The H Foundation hosts the Goombay Bash, a fundraising event under the disguise of a casual Caribbean-style party. Since 2001, The H Foundation has raised over $8 million donating nearly every dollar raised to the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University.
These funds are used as seed money for basic science cancer research projects to help them compete for additional government or private funding. As a result, our donations have been leveraged into over $50 million of research dollars towards finding a cure. The H Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization. 100% of our funding comes from donations by generous businesses, communities, families, individuals, and… from you.
